Through its Pattern Shop, BRD is able to produce small to medium-sized patterns and moulds as required, in both traditional and modern CAD methods of mould design. The staff’s expertise can quickly determine the most efficient manner in which to tool a new part or product, or modify existing moulds or tools.

Tools and equipment include a perfectly flat and level surface plates to allow accurate measurement of objects up to the size of an F1 monocoque, and for the purpose of gaining accurate dimensions for fitting or modeling purposes. Machine tools include various wood machinery including saws, sanders, planers etc.

The Pattern Shop is equipped with a powerful dust extraction unit in order to maintain cleanliness within and throughout the adjoining areas of the factory. The factory fume extraction unit also extends into the Pattern Shop to provide the necessary ventilation of styrenes during any wet GRP moulding process.
