Situated on the main factory floor, BRD uses a 200-degree Centigrade large thyristic-controlled JLS oven for mould preparation, low cost vacuum-only curing of parts and post-curing of tools, patterns or components.
It is able to cure very large components at 1 atmosphere pressure, and post-cure components up to 200-degrees Centigrade to increase service temperatures considerably.
The size of the oven - 3.0m long x 2.2m wide x 2.0m tall - makes it ideal for the manufacture of large components such as sportscar monocoques, down to the adhesive curing required in the production of smaller multi-part components.
BRD’s oven and autoclave feature Eurotherm multi-stage programmable PID controllers.
For particularly sensitive components for premier motorsport, it is also possible to log surface temperature data.
To improve the efficiency of the oven when operating at low temperatures, the design incorporates element switching to give two optional low-power levels of 18kw and 24kw respectively. |
